Our History
Our story began in the late 1950s when Ken Carter founded Central Garage as a Shell petrol station. Over the years, we have grown and evolved, taking on the BMC (British Motor Corporation) franchise, which eventually became Austin and then Austin Rover. In 1984, we made a change in direction and partnered with Peugeot/Talbot, and later became a part of the Ford network in 1987. After 36 years with Ford Motor Company, we have made the move to become a fully independent dealership, opening our doors to owners of vehicles from all manufacturers.
